Ministry Name: Knots of Love
Brief Ministry Description or Duties: Knots of Love mission is to provide comfort and peace and an enhanced trust in God’s plan for people who are facing a difficult challenge in their lives. It may be a serious illness or physical challenge, or a crisis of faith. Whatever the need, we hope our Knots of Love Prayer Shawls help them to feel cared for and watch over and truly blessed. Our shawls are made with prayers offered for healing and comfort. The shawls are then brought to church and given a very special blessing for the recipient. They are gift wrapped and delivered to that person. Prayers are said for that person, and a knot is tied in the tassel representing each prayer. We encourage the recipients to have their family, friends, medical staff, tie knots in the tassels while praying for their needs. The prayers are sent to God and God gives us miracles in return.
Frequency of Service Each member crochets or knits at their convenience. We meet once a month in the Alpha/Omega room to bring in our completed shawls. Everyone previews all of the competed shawls. You do not have to attend the meeting and may drop off completed shawls at the front desk.
Experience needed: The only requirement is to be able to crochet or knit. We have guide lines to help you determine sizes. As long as they are large enough and soft enough to bring comfort and warmth to those who need them. Use your own pattern or we can supply you with some. If you cannot crochet of knit, donation of yarn is greatly appreciated. We need approximately 24 to 30 ounces of yarn for each shawl. Donations may be left at the church office marked for Knots of Love.
